Garden Shoes
When we were kids helping our parents out in the garden, we always wore our oldest pair of sneakers and left them outside, covered in mud, by the kitchen door. But these days there are all kinds of wonderful garden shoes that make the work of gardening fun just looking at their beautiful colors.
There are all kinds of garden shoes available. If you have a really big garden, especially in an area where clay is a main component of your garden, then muck boots are the best solution.
For everyday home gardens, or even just for walking around in the neighborhood, garden clogs are great. Several companies put out their versions of them, so looking at the different options is always a good idea. They are waterproof, comfortable and so easy to clean – you just run a hose on them and leave them out to dry!
If you have kids you know they will want to help you in the garden. And what better way to say they are a part of the process then for them to have their own garden shoes. They be “grown up clogs just like Moms” , big rubber boots that they can jump through puddles in or garden sandals for those hot summer days. No matter what they wear, they will love them because they are Their Own Gardening Shoes.
Finally- there is something a little different that has come out lately. It is called a “rain shoe” and I find them interesting because they are mid-way between a garden shoe and a walking shoe. They are made of rubber, tend to be really cute (a must for us girls) and although I wouldn’t recommend them for while doing heavy digging etc in the garden, they are great for that perfect misty morning when you just want to “rummage in the garden” for a bit.
